The allocation of technical assistance from the European Commission under the Just Transition support programme for regions represents an important recognition of the Nextistence Institute and its Competence Center for Advanced Energy Technologies in Šoštanj – KENT. It acknowledges the work achieved so far and reflects confidence in the institute’s ability to prepare high-quality development projects for the future of the Šalek Valley.
The support is intended for the preparation of several strategically important project initiatives focused on sustainable economic development, advanced energy solutions, industrial transformation, strengthening the regional innovation ecosystem, and creating new high value-added jobs.
The objective is to develop projects that are investment-ready, feasible, and professionally prepared for implementation.
A particularly significant aspect is that this is the first time such technical assistance has been granted in our region to a private institute. This confirms that meaningful development progress can also be driven by agile, professionally oriented organizations that connect industry, local communities, research environments, and international partners.
In the coming months, together with regional stakeholders, we will prepare a portfolio of concrete project solutions and business plans that will contribute to creating new opportunities, improving competitiveness, and ensuring the long-term sustainable development of the area.
At the Nextistence Institute – KENT, we believe that the Šalek Valley can become an example of successful economic transformation and a modern development transition within the wider European space.
